The Uttar Pradesh government has approved a budget of Rs 12.10 crore for development projects in Ayodhya's rural areas for the fiscal year 2025-26. This decision was made during a Kshetra Panchayat meeting held at the block auditorium.
The meeting, presided over by Block Chief Sushila Verma, began with a two-minute silence to honor the victims of a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. ADO Cooperative Amit Kumar Singh presented the minutes of the previous meeting.
MP Lalji Verma expressed his support for the region's development and raised concerns about the 'One Nation, One Election' proposal. ADO Social Welfare Manish Verma briefed the members on various pension schemes, including the National Family Benefit Scheme, disability pensions, and the Chief Minister's Mass Marriage Scheme.
Block Development Officer Anand Kumar Srivastava shared plans to create 309,986 man-days under the MGNREGA scheme across gram panchayats, with an estimated cost of Rs 7.81 crore. Proposals for the allocation of Rs 1.48 crore from the Kshetra Panchayat fund and Rs 2.89 crore from the State Finance Commission for development projects were unanimously approved. The Kshetra Panchayat fund currently holds a balance of Rs 2.50 crore.
The BDO emphasised the need for members to ensure impartial and comprehensive village development. Agriculture Department representative Kanhaiya Lal informed the members about various agricultural schemes, while Block Chief representative Fayaram Verma assured that all BDC members' areas would benefit from these schemes.
The meeting was attended by CDPO Sunita Verma, Zila Panchayat members Harishchandra Nishad and Mayaram Verma, ISV Suresh Kumar, Junior Engineer Alok Verma, Head Clerk Athar Siddiqui, and other staff members. Women's representation was limited, with only five female representatives present, despite 39 women Gram Pradhans and 36 women Kshetra Panchayat members.
