In a major move to combat electricity theft in Uttar Pradesh, DGP Rajiv Krishna has ordered the deployment of 868 police personnel to the Power Corporation on a two-year deputation. The force includes 155 promoted Senior Sub-Inspectors, 417 promoted Head Constables, and 326 Constables.
The officers will be posted across all districts to prevent electricity theft. At the end of their deputation, they will return to their original positions. DGP Rajiv Krishna has instructed all district Superintendents of Police to deploy the personnel immediately to the Power Corporation.

Power Corporation officials stated that these officers will be stationed at special police units being set up specifically to curb electricity theft. Previously, the corporation had to rely on local police stations for assistance in such drives, which was often time-consuming.
With its own dedicated police force, the Power Corporation will now be able to conduct continuous operations and enforcement drives, ensuring stricter measures against electricity theft across the state.
