The Uttar Pradesh government has announced relief for passengers ahead of Dussehra and Diwali, extending the 10 per cent reduction in fares on all air-conditioned buses of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) until further notice.
Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Singh said the government is committed to improving public transport facilities while making travel more affordable. The discount will apply to services including Janrath, Pink, Shatabdi, Volvo, and AC sleeper buses. However, it will not cover newly registered air-conditioned buses that came into operation after January 1, 2024.

As per the revised fare structure, 3x2 buses will charge Rs 1.45 per kilometre, 2x2 buses Rs 1.60 per kilometre, high-end Volvo buses Rs 2.30 per kilometre, and AC sleeper buses Rs 2.10 per kilometre.
To ensure the corporation’s revenue is not impacted, the Transport Minister has directed special counselling sessions for drivers and conductors to encourage them to attract more passengers.
