Amid rising concerns over the production and sale of synthetic and adulterated milk and related products, the Uttar Pradesh government has ordered a special statewide campaign to tackle the issue. The campaign will involve joint action by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Milk Development Department, police, and district administration.

The decision follows Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directive during a review meeting of the Food and Drug Administration Department held on May 15, where he expressed serious concern over the growing cases of adulteration in dairy products and emphasised the need for strict enforcement.

Acting on the Chief Minister’s instructions, FDA Commissioner Rajesh Kumar has issued orders to all Assistant Commissioners (Food), directing them to take effective and coordinated action. The instructions call for continuous raids and inspections, particularly in high-risk areas where complaints regarding adulterated or synthetic milk have surfaced.

The campaign will target dairy owners, operators, and retailers involved in the supply and sale of milk laced with harmful chemicals. A designated officer from the Milk Development Department has been appointed in each district to ensure coordinated action.

The state government has emphasised that the goal of this campaign is to ensure the availability of safe and unadulterated food and beverages to the public through sustained monitoring and strict enforcement measures.
