The Yogi Adityanath government will distribute 40,521 subsidised solar pumps to farmers across Uttar Pradesh in 2025-26 under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM KUSUM). Farmers wishing to avail the benefit must apply online at www.agriculture.up.gov.in by December 15. Only farmers registered on the portal will be eligible, and selection will be done through an e-lottery.
Under the scheme, farmers will receive substantial subsidies from both the Centre and the state on nine types of solar pumps. For 2 HP DC and AC surface pumps, the state will provide a subsidy of Rs 56,737 each, while the Centre will contribute Rs 41,856 each, totalling Rs 98,593 per pump. A subsidy of Rs 1,00,215 will be given for 2 HP DC submersible pumps and Rs 99,947 for 2 HP AC submersible pumps.
Farmers will receive Rs 1,33,621 for 3 HP DC and Rs 1,32,314 for 3 HP AC submersible pumps. For 5 HP AC submersible pumps, the subsidy will be Rs 1,88,038. The highest support, Rs 2,54,983, will be provided for 7.5 HP and 10 HP AC submersible pumps, including Rs 1,40,780 from the state and Rs 1,14,203 from the Centre.
Farmers must book their solar pumps online through the ‘Book solar pump for subsidy’ link on the Agriculture Department website and pay Rs 5,000 as token money. After booking confirmation, a notification will be sent to the registered mobile number, following which the remaining amount, after deducting the subsidy, must be paid online.
According to the Agriculture Department, farmers opting for bank loans will receive a 6 per cent interest rebate (3 per cent each from the Centre and state) under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF).
Technical requirements have also been specified:
- 4-inch bore for 2 HP pumps
- 6-inch bore for 3 HP and 5 HP pumps
- 8-inch bore for 7.5 HP and 10 HP pumps
If the required bore is not found during verification, the token money will be forfeited, and the application may be cancelled.
The department has also provided guidance on water depth suitability for each pump category, ranging from 22 feet for 2 HP surface pumps to 300 feet for 7.5 HP and 10 HP submersible pumps. District-wise targets for 2 HP and 3 HP pumps will be displayed on the portal, allowing farmers to choose pumps according to their needs.
