UP House Tax Defaulter List: Saharanpur Municipal Corporation has taken action against those who do not pay house tax. After the GIS survey, a list of one lakh people has been prepared to whom notices are being sent. So far, notices have been sent to 18,000 people. Notices will be sent to 10,000 people every day. As per the corporation there has been no increase in tax and bills have been sent as per the current situation, jagran.com reported.
Till now, house tax bills were being sent according to the status of the houses in the city which were built five to ten years ago in the records of the Municipal Corporation. After a long time, people modified their houses. Roads were widened and constructed. Apart from this, shops are being built in the houses and they are being used for commercial purposes. A GIS survey was conducted last year based on all these points.
The property was renovated as per the old period. After the survey, bills were sent as per the current status of the property.
Municipal Corporation officials said that there has been no increase in house tax. Bills have been sent as per the current status of the property. If anyone has any objection, they can register it. Tax will be deposited only after the objection is resolved. House tax will be levied as per the GIS survey.
In another update earlier this month, at a Kanpur Municipal Corporation council meeting, a total of 11 proposals were tabled, all of which were passed unanimously. Key among them was the approval of a 10 per cent rebate on current house tax payments for homeowners, valid until July 2025. The move aims to encourage timely payments and ease the financial burden on citizens.
To ensure better financial discipline and transparency, the council also decided that every development-related file will now carry budgetary and commitment seals. This system, previously discontinued, had led to cross-utilization of zonal budgets. The reinstated mechanism is expected to streamline fund allocation and prevent mismanagement.
