What was supposed to be a step toward healing turned into something far more disturbing for 35-year-old Sachin from Hapur. Hoping to help him recover from his struggles, his family admitted him to a de-addiction center in Ghaziabad. But instead of finding peace or progress, Sachin developed a bizarre and dangerous habit swallowing spoons, toothbrushes, and even pens.

In a deeply unsettling turn of events, staff at the rehab center discovered that Sachin had been secretly stealing spoons from the kitchen, snapping them into pieces, and forcing them down his throat. Days later, after he began complaining of severe stomach pain, doctors were shocked to find 29 steel spoons, 19 toothbrushes, and two pens lodged inside his body.

Sachin says his behavior was fueled by frustration and the conditions at the center. "In the entire day, we would be given very less vegetables and just a few chapatis. If something came from home, most wouldn't reach us. We would sometimes get one biscuit in a day," he said.

According to NDTV, driven by anger and hunger, he would sneak into the utensil pile, steal steel spoons, and head to the bathroom where he’d break them up and swallow them, sometimes using water to help force them down.

Eventually, when the pain in his abdomen became unbearable, he was taken to a hospital. X-rays and CT scans revealed the unimaginable: a stomach full of foreign objects. Doctors initially attempted to remove them through endoscopy, but the sheer number made it impossible. Surgery was the only option.

“Such problems often occur in people with psychological problems,” said Dr. Shyam Kumar, one of the doctors who treated Sachin.
