A man named Arun was shot dead in a field outside a village near the Bharat Gas warehouse in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. According to eyewitnesses, Vishal took Arun from his home and spoke with him for a while. Following an argument, Vishal allegedly pulled out a pistol and shot Arun in the right side of his chest. Arun collapsed immediately after being shot.

People present in a nearby field claimed the accused filmed the incident on their mobile phones, though police have not confirmed this. Young men playing cricket nearby rushed to the scene upon hearing gunfire, but the attackers had already fled. Villagers immediately informed the police and took the injured Arun to the medical college, but he did not survive.

Tension and Clash with Police

As news of the murder spread, tension gripped the village. When police arrived on two motorcycles to gather information, an angry crowd pelted stones at them, damaging two bikes. Officers fled, leaving behind a scooter, a bike, and their diary. Additional police personnel had to use force to control the crowd.

CCTV footage from the area reportedly shows the accused leaving the village on two bikes with a companion. Bhola Nishad, Arun’s father, told the Chilual police that he had delivered a wedding card for Vishal’s sister to their home three days earlier.

Family Grieves the Loss

Arun was the elder of two brothers and was gradually taking on family responsibilities. The news of his murder on Sunday evening plunged the household into mourning. Mother Bindi Devi fainted multiple times and repeatedly said her son had no enmity with anyone. Her voice was choked with tears. Father Bhola Nishad sat silently, appearing shattered.

Arun worked in paint polishing and also handled lighting fixtures for wedding halls. His younger brother Tarun is training to become a confectioner. Villagers remembered Arun as cheerful and friendly, someone who played with friends in the evenings and avoided arguments.

Following the incident, the entire village fell silent. Every household was discussing the tragedy, and a somber mood prevailed across the community.
