UP Mandates Online Payment for Property Registration Fees Above Rs 20,000; 95% Transactions Go Digital In Noida

In Noida district, property registration fees exceeding Rs 20,000 must now be paid online. The new system was implemented two days ago to increase transparency and curb corruption in the registration process.

Following the success of a pilot project conducted in four districts, including Gautam Buddh Nagar, the Uttar Pradesh government has extended the online payment system across the entire state.

As a result, nearly 95 per cent of property registration fees in Noida are now being paid online at the time of registration, replacing the earlier cash-based system.

Since the introduction of the system, 1,138 property deeds, leases, and agreements have been registered in the district. On the first day alone, 572 registrations were completed. However, operations were affected due to technical issues, as the state treasury portal remained down for a significant period. Despite the disruption, 566 registrations were carried out on the second day.

Additional Inspector General (AIG) Arun Kumar Sharma said the initiative was introduced to ensure greater transparency in the registration process. He clarified that the technical issue on the first day stemmed from the central system and has since been addressed.

With the new system in place, registration fees will now be deposited directly into the state treasury, making the process more efficient and easing the workload of the department.
