Four women were killed after a massive fire engulfed a firecracker factory in UP’s Amroha. The incident took place in Atrasi Village in the Rajabpur Police Station area. Amroha DM and SP rushed to the incident site after the information about the blast.

Villagers gathered at the incident site after a loud explosion was heard in the area located in the middle of the fields. Four women died on the spot while six sustained serious burn injuries, Jagran.com reported. The sound of this explosion echoed about a kilometre away.

The factory was being operated by Saifu Rehman, a resident of Hapur. The blast occurred in one of the two buildings of the factory. After the incident, District Magistrate Nidhi Gupta Vats, Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand, Additional Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Bhadoria and Chief Fire Officer Anil Kumar reached the spot.

“We got information about a blast at a licensed firecracker factory at around 12 noon. Police teams and an ambulance reached the spot soon after the information. Four women have been killed in the incident while six other got injured and have been sent to the hospital for treatment. The bodies have been sent for autopsy. We are trying to ascertain the causes of the incident. Further investigation is underway,” Amit Kumar Anand said while talking to the media.

A comprehensive rescue operation was launched and teams made a lot of effort to take out the bodies of the women from the debris with the help of locals.
