UP News: While a video of a police officer from UP's Meerapur pointing his pistol at a few Muslim women coming out to vote triggered widespread outrage on social media, the Brahmin Mahasabha of India has announced to honour the police administrative officers, including the police station in-charge.
Meanwhile, the SP leaders are talking about honouring one of the women Tohida, who was standing in front of the police station in-charge, who was pointing a pistol at her.
Uma Dutt Sharma, national spokesperson of Brahmin Mahasabha Sampoorna Bharat, and Harendra Sharma, in-charge of Western Uttar Pradesh, said that Rajiv Sharma, in-charge of the Kakarwali police station, as well as the DM and SSP, will be honored. "The officer in charge of the police station averted a riot from breaking out; he did not fire a single gunshot but did flash the stone pelters his handgun as warning. Despite being bombarded with stones from the front, the police officer in command of the station restored order by drawing his pistol."
"Some people are trying to defame the SHO for political reasons and are circulating incomplete videos. Virendra Verma Vichar Manch and Malviya Paropkari Samiti officials will also felicitate him," he said.
Uma Dutt Sharma stated that time will be requested from the DM and SSP to attend the program and congratulate him. This program will be held next week.
The Matter
A video was shared by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav showing the cop flashing his pistol at the women asking them to go back. One of the women is seen tackling the officer, asking if he has the authority to point a weapon at her.

According to AIMIM candidate Mohammad Arshad, police were preventing people from leaving their homes, which is why there was a poor voter turnout in Kakroli. The police, he said, were "harassing voters" and acting like "enemies of the people." Arshad further asserted that police were holding AIMIM workers.
Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party, charged at a press conference in Lucknow that the BJP was "manipulating" the administrative apparatus to win the by-elections.
According to Yadav, his party has complained to the Election Commission (EC) about "irregularities" in a number of constituencies, including Majhawan, Karhal, Sisamau, Meerapur, Kundarki, and Phulpur.
Yadav claimed that the EC was ignoring the problems in spite of these complaints.
