UP Crime: The body of a of a woman, thought to be in her late 20s, was found on Friday morning in Pilakhua, Hapur, close to a forest area along the Delhi-Lucknow NH-9, packed inside a suitcase. The woman's identity is still unknown. Additional SP Vineet Bhatnagar said that the woman probably passed away a few days ago because of the body's decomposition and the presence of maggots.

“There are injury marks on the face, and a grey scarf was wrapped around her neck. It appears that she was strangled. The exact cause of death will be known after the postmortem report arrives," he said.

Bhatnagar reported that the woman was dressed in a yellow flowery kurti and a bright pink salwar. She had black threads wrapped around her ankle, wrist, and waist. The suitcase also included a pair of pink slippers. Samples have been gathered by forensic teams, and have shared information on social media and with police in nearby regions to facilitate identification.

According to Bhatnagar, the body was found over a kilometre off the highway in a place with few CCTV cameras and little foot activity. He assured to break the case shortly and said that police teams had been constituted to investigate.

The matter is now being investigated further.

In another incident, the Delhi Police has arrested a 32-year-old national-level wrestler-turned arms dealer from Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat after an eight-year hunt, an officer said on Saturday.

The accused named Sonu Langada alias Pahalwan was involved in several serious crimes. The police said that he turned to supplying illegal arms to criminals after his leg was amputated in a road accident. He was nabbed after being on the run for nearly eight years.

He was arrested in connection with the murder of a cable operator. On May 29, the police arrested Sonu Langada was from his native village in Baghpat, the officer said. He was declared a proclaimed offender on June 29, 2017, in connection with an arms supply case.
