Preparations for the upcoming three-tier Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh, scheduled for next year, have gained momentum. On Friday, the State Election Commission announced a comprehensive schedule for the massive revision of electoral rolls ahead of the polls.

According to the notification issued by State Election Commissioner R.P. Singh, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will begin door-to-door surveys from August 14, during which they will count and verify eligible voters. The same day, the portal for online applications to register as voters will also open. Individuals who turn 18 on or before January 1, 2025, will be eligible for inclusion in the voter list.

The final voter list will be published on January 15, 2026. The commission has directed that all offices involved in the revision process remain open, even on public holidays, and strictly adhere to the set timeline, with no extensions under any circumstances.

Key dates in the revision process include:

-July 18–August 13: Printing of existing voter lists, training of BLOs and supervisors, allocation of work areas, and distribution of materials.

-August 14–September 29: BLOs to conduct house-to-house enumeration and submit handwritten survey reports.

-August 14–September 22: Online applications for new voter registration.

-September 22–29: Door-to-door verification of online applicants.

-September 30–October 6: Submission of updated handwritten reports to the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer.

-October 7–24: Computerisation of voter data.

-November 25–December 4: Ward mapping, polling station updates, and voter list preparation.

-December 5: Draft voter list to be published.

-December 6–12: Public inspection of draft list; submission of claims and objections.

-December 13–19: Settlement of claims and objections.

-December 20–23: Submission of revised reports.

-December 24–January 8: Supplementary list processing and integration.

-January 9–14: Final data computerisation and documentation.

-January 15, 2026: Final publication of electoral rolls.

The Commission also clarified that any Gram Panchayat partially included within another Gram Panchayat or urban body will be excluded from the three-tier Panchayat election process.

The State Election Commission has urged active community participation and timely cooperation from all concerned authorities to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral roll revision process.
