The extensive revision campaign for the three-tier Panchayat electoral roll has generated a significant response, with over 200,000 applications to register new voters received since August 19. During the same period, approximately 82,000 names have been marked for removal from the voter lists. The final opportunity for residents to register is September 29. The exact number of additions and deletions will be confirmed after this deadline.

As of Friday, the highest numbers of new voter applications were submitted in the Campierganj (22,261), Brahmpur (19,302), Khajni (15,356), and Chargawan (13,908) blocks. The lowest number of applications, 4,454, was received from the Piprauli block.

Upcoming Schedule For Voter List Revision

Following the registration deadline, the revision process will adhere to a strict schedule:

September 30 – October 6: Handwritten manuscripts of all additions, corrections, and deletions will be submitted to the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer.

October 7 – November 24: The computerised draft of the electoral rolls will be prepared.

December 5: The provisional voter list will be published for public review.

December 6 – December 12: A period for filing claims and objections will be opened.

December 13 – December 19: All submitted objections will be reviewed and resolved.

January 15: The final, updated voter list will be published.

Unique Number Assigned To All Voters To Prevent Duplication

To identify and eliminate duplicate entries in the Panchayat electoral roll, the State Election Commission has implemented a new system this year. Every voter in the state has been allocated a Unique State Voter Number (SVN).

This six-character English code is marked against each voter's name, making it easy to spot duplication and helping voters find their names quickly. The SVN is structured as follows:

- The first three characters correspond to the voter's block.

- The fourth character indicates gender ('F' for female, 'M' for male).

- The fifth and sixth characters are 'AA', followed by the voter's serial number.

This technology allows the system to easily detect duplicate entries, even if a voter's name and their father's name are identical. In the lists provided to Booth Level Officers (BLOs), the SVN is marked in the third column from the end, which voters can also use to search for their names.
