On the recommendation of the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, the written examination for the posts of Head Constable Motor Transport will not be conducted. Instead, recruitment will be carried out through seniority-based promotions.

The Police Headquarters’ Logistics Department had sought advice from the Recruitment Board, which clarified that while the service rules provide for a written test, promotions for certain posts under the UP Police Motor Transport Branch Subordinate Officer Service Rules, 2015, including Head Constable Driver, Sub-Inspector Motor Transport, and Inspector Motor Transport, can already be made based on seniority.

The Board further noted that similar provisions may apply to Head Constable Motor Transport posts, though any change in procedure would require an amendment to the rules.

A total of 176 posts of Head Constable Motor Transport are vacant for the years 2020 to 2026, and these will now be filled through the seniority-based process.
