Uttar Pradesh electricity consumers can now apply online to increase their connection load, following a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Power Corporation. The process is accessible via the link for load changes on the official website, www.uppcl.org.

According to the SOP, metering work for the new load will be completed within three days in municipal corporation areas, seven days in other urban areas, and 15 days in rural areas, once the application, agreement, and No Objection Certificate (NOC) process is completed.

Consumers must be registered on the portal to apply. Those with outstanding electricity bills will be prompted to clear their dues before proceeding. For connections requiring voltage upgrades to 11kV (typically for loads above 50 kilowatts), options for line construction will be provided.

Applicants can upload necessary documents within 60 days of initiating the process. A system-generated personal bond form, along with a signed agreement printed on Rs 100 affidavit, must be submitted online. LMV-1 (domestic) consumers are exempt from providing load details in the personal bond.

Processing fees and any additional security deposits can also be paid online. Once the load enhancement work is completed, the new load, along with updated tariff, supply type, and meter details, will be reflected in the billing system within three days.

Director (Commercial) Prashant Verma said the move aims to make load enhancement more convenient, transparent, and timely for all consumers.
