E-KYC For Ration Card: The Indian government has suspended free ration distribution to beneficiaries who haven't completed their e-KYC process. As per the new directive, ration benefits will only be available to those who have completed the mandatory e-KYC procedure.

Following the August announcement, ration dealers refused to distribute subsidised food grains to non-compliant cardholders in Sultanpur in September, causing widespread concern.

The eligible cardholders are now rushing to complete their e-KYC for the ration card to avoid a three-month suspension of their ration benefits.

In Sultanpur, there are a total of 18 lakh 70 thousand 752 units covered under ration cards. However, as of August, 3 lakh 9 thousand beneficiaries had not completed their e-KYC. As a result, when the units of eligible household beneficiaries were reduced, fair price shop dealers refused to distribute food grains to them.

Antyodaya cardholders are entitled to 14 kg of wheat and 21 kg of rice per card. In contrast, PDS beneficiaries receive 2 kg of wheat and 3 kg of rice per unit. To avoid being deprived of food grains in October, beneficiaries must complete their e-KYC by September.

How To Do E-KYC

Beneficiaries can complete their e-KYC process both online and offline. Here's how:

- Online e-KYC: Use the "Mera Ration" or "Aadhaar Face Auth" app to complete the process from home. Simply enter your Aadhaar number, captcha code, and OTP sent to your mobile number. Then, undergo face authentication to verify your identity.

- Offline e-KYC: Visit your nearest ration shop or Common Service Centre (CSC) with your Aadhaar card and ration card to complete the process.

Convenience For Beneficiaries

Even if you're away from home, you can still complete your e-KYC process by visiting the nearest fair price shop or CSC.
