UP RERA Chairman Sanjay Bhusreddy on Wednesday revealed that nearly 60 delayed cases—filed beyond the three-year permissible limit—have been cancelled. These cases pertained to buyers who failed to receive plots or houses on time under various housing schemes. According to Bhusreddy, as per regulations, a case can only be filed within three years of the delay.

The decision is expected to cost the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) and Housing Development Council approximately Rs 100 crore each, triggering discontent among some stakeholders. In response, Bhusreddy said attempts are now being made to spread misinformation against UP RERA.

Speaking at the UP RERA headquarters, Bhusreddy also highlighted the strengthening of the authority's legal framework. “Talented new advocates are being appointed as Law Clerk-cum-Research Assistants (LCRA) and Law Consultants (LC) to assist benches with legal and judicial matters,” he said. Since August 2023, UP RERA has been conducting legal training sessions every Saturday at 4 PM for law graduates and bench staff. These sessions cover RERA procedures, legal provisions, and key rulings from the Supreme Court, High Courts, NCLT, and the RERA Tribunal.

He added that, from time to time, these teams also conduct presentations and undertake legal research work.

Addressing a recent controversy, Bhusreddy clarified allegations involving his son, Jayesh Bhoosreddy. He said that in a group formed to analyse an NCLT order passed on March 17, Law Consultants Mridul Tiwari and Isha Asthana were officially included.

However, Jayesh's name was added as a "special invitee" without the Chairman's consent, during a time when Bhusreddy was away due to his mother’s demise. Upon returning, he immediately removed his son’s name from the group on March 22.
