Uttar Pradesh: A massive controversy erupted at Nadwa Primary School in Mahmudabad, Sitapur, following a dispute between headmaster Brijendra Kumar Verma and Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Akhilesh Pratap Singh. The dispute between the two escalated into violence after claims that a teacher, Avantika Gupta, had been absent for an extended period but was being marked present on official records.

A phone call has surfaced in which BSA Singh allegedly asks Verma to mark Avantika’s attendance, despite her absence, saying, “If the villagers ask, tell them the teacher is on medical leave.” Replying to this, Verma said, “At least the teacher should come one day. Her vehicle passes by the principal's house every day. What should I say if people ask?"

The headmaster’s wife, Seema Verma, also alleged that BSA Singh had been pressuring her husband to wrongly mark Avantika’s attendance.

The headmaster went to the BSA’s office on September 23 to confront Singh over the harassment allegations involving the teacher. The argument reportedly escalated into a violent altercation with the headmaster Verma, assaulting the BSA Akhilesh Pratap Singh with a belt.

“He was scolded when he failed to answer. He then turned aggressive, pulled his belt out and attacked us,” Singh said.

A video of the incident showing the attack has gone viral on the internet. In the video, Verma was captured slamming a file on the desk before pulling out his belt and striking Singh multiple times. Soon after the incident, a case was filed against the headmaster, and he was sent to jail. Verma’s arrest triggered widespread sit-in protests by the students and villagers of the Nadwa Primary School, who demanded his release.
