Lucknow Factory Explosion:  At least two people were killed and five others injured in a blast at a firecracker factory operating from a house in Gudamba area on Sunday. The deadly blast that took place around 12 noon damaged adjacent houses. 

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed condolences to the bereaved families and also directed officers to reach the spot and speed up the relief operations, news agency ANI reported.

Two individuals, including the wife of the house owner, Alam, have been killed in the tragic incident. The couple’s children and children from neighbouring families have sustained serious injuries.

A part of the roof collapsed following the explosion, leading to five people getting trapped under the debris. The five have been pulled out of the rubble and rushed to a hospital. District Magistrate Vishak G, who along with senior police officials visited the blast site, said, "Condition of two of the injured remains critical. The remaining three injured are stable".

The rescue operation immediately took place as half a dozen fire engines were dispatched to the spot. Babloo Kumar, JCP (L&O), said that the relief operation is underway.

"We received information about an explosion in a house. Relief operation has been undertaken. Wife of the house owner, Alam has died. Their children and children in the neighbouring families are injured..." Kumar added.

"Our first priority is to ensure that the injured get adequate medical care.Once that is done our teams will look into the reasons behind the incident and those involved in it," DM said.
