The UP government is preparing to change the rules for determining land value. Under the new system, the value of the land in question during Chakbandi (land consolidation) will be determined by the circle rate. Previously, officials and staff conducting the consolidation determined the value based on the land's fertility.

To end the current system and prevent arbitrary decisions by land consolidation staff and officials, the government is now establishing a system where farmers can assess the value of their own land.

Circle rates in the districts are determined based on the road network and the land's fertility. A proposal for this change is being prepared by the office of the Consolidation Commissioner, with the new system to be implemented after receiving government approval.

The initiative aims to resolve farmers' complaints that they were paid less for their roadside land while others received more.
