The Uttar Pradesh government is set to introduce ropeway connectivity at key religious and tourist destinations to further enhance tourism. In the first phase of the initiative, ropeways will be developed at Maharishi Valmiki Ashram in Chitrakoot and the Siddh Baba Temple on Gorakh Giri hill in Mahoba. Land identification for both sites has been completed, with 8,920 square meters marked in Chitrakoot and 9,750 square meters in Mahoba.

Uttar Pradesh has consistently ranked first in the country for domestic tourism over the past two years. In 2023–24, the state recorded 48 crore tourists, which rose to 64 crore in 2024–25. The government is leveraging tourism as a key pillar in its strategy to transform the state’s economy into a $1 trillion (Rs 1 lakh crore) economy.

The Tourism Department is actively identifying other religious and cultural sites where ropeway facilities could be beneficial. These projects will be planned with consideration of local geography, weather patterns, seismic activity, and tourist flow throughout the year.

Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh emphasised the cultural and religious importance of Chitrakoot and Mahoba, stating that the government's aim is to blend heritage with modern infrastructure, ensuring year-round safe and easy access for pilgrims and tourists alike.
