UP Weather: The intense summer heat continues to grip Uttar Pradesh, with scorching sunshine and dry, hot winds causing widespread discomfort across both eastern and western parts of the state. Daytime temperatures have soared past 40°C in more than half of the districts.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions in the state, expected to last for the next two days starting Friday. While the westerly winds that began sweeping through the region on Thursday have now slowed down, they have significantly reduced moisture levels in the atmosphere. As a result, solar intensity has increased, leading to a sharp rise in temperatures once again.
According to Atul Kumar Singh, Senior Scientist at the Regional Meteorological Centre in Lucknow, heatwave conditions are likely to persist in the eastern, southern, and Bundelkhand regions for the next two days. Following this period, a newly developed western disturbance is expected to bring a change in weather conditions.
Districts under the heatwave warning include: Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Bhadohi, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Kanpur Rural, Kanpur Nagar, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Kasganj, Etah, Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi, Lalitpur, and nearby regions.
Residents in affected areas are advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and follow health advisories to stay safe during the ongoing heatwave.
