UP Weather Update: The weather department has forecast heavy rainfall in several parts of Uttar Pradesh on Monday, particularly in nine districts including Saharanpur and Shamli, while 47 districts may witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, bringing much-needed relief from the heat, though humidity levels are expected to remain high.

According to Dr Atul Kumar Singh, a senior meteorologist, heavy showers are likely over the next 24 hours in Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Moradabad, Rampur, Pilibhit, Jhansi, and Lalitpur, along with surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rain and lightning with thunder are expected in a wide range of districts, including Prayagraj, Varanasi, Kanpur, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Agra, Bareilly, and Lucknow, among others.

The full list includes Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Fatehpur, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Baghpat, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Kasganj, Etah, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Amroha, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, Badaun, Jalaun, Hamirpur, and Mahoba.

On Sunday, many districts experienced cloudy skies with intermittent sunshine, leading to a rise in temperatures. Lucknow recorded a maximum temperature of 36.7 degrees Celsius, which was 1.8 degrees Celsius above normal. The highest temperature in the state was 38.5 degrees Celsius in Ayodhya, followed by 37.8 degrees Celsius in Kanpur.

Similar temperature levels are expected on Monday, though rainfall in many areas may offer temporary relief from the ongoing heatwave-like conditions.
