The weather in Uttar Pradesh is set to change once again, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting rain accompanied by strong winds in multiple districts on January 29. This shift in the weather is also expected to lower temperatures across several parts, starting Monday.
The weather fluctuations in the state are attributed to a western disturbance, which will become active over the western Himalayan region on January 29, the met agency stated. This disturbance is expected to influence western UP until January 31, bringing rain and strong winds.
Additionally, the weather department has issued a dense fog alert for districts including Lucknow, Kanpur, Unnao, Barabanki, Ayodhya, Gonda, Balrampur, Bahraich, Shravasti, Ghazipur, Mathura, Agra, Meerut, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Fatehpur, Banda and Bareilly. Strong winds are also expected to accompany these conditions.
Light rain is anticipated in the coming days, particularly in Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, Kanpur and surrounding areas, potentially increasing daytime temperatures. The transition of northwesterly winds following the western disturbance is expected to bring another round of weather changes to the state.

While rain is likely to intensify the chill, no significant change in the maximum temperature is forecast in the next 24 hours. Cities like Ayodhya are expected to have clear weather, whereas Deoria, Gorakhpur, and parts of eastern UP may see morning fog. Prayagraj is likely to enjoy clear weather on Mauni Amavasya (January 29), with light fog or mist in the morning.
