The terror of wolves in the Terai district of Bahraich shows no signs of stopping. The death toll is steadily rising. Within just 24 hours, two more children have lost their lives in wolf attacks at different locations.
Within the last three months, 10 people have fallen victim to these attacks, while over 30 others have been injured. Since the incidents began, there has been an atmosphere of panic among the residents of the area.
First Incident: 10-Month-Old Snatched from Courtyard Sheshraj, a resident of Khoria Sharif in the KotwaliDehat area, submitted a report to the police stating that his sister, Rama Devi, whose in-laws live in Dikra village of Shravasti district, had come to her maternal home with her 10-month-old daughter, Sunita. Late Friday night, Rama was sleeping on a cot in the courtyard of the house with her daughter.
At dawn on Saturday, a wolf snatched the infant. The family woke up upon hearing the child's screams and chased the wolf, but it escaped into a sugarcane field. several hours later, in the morning, the mutilated body of the girl was found in the field of a local resident named Satyaram.
Second Incident: 5-Year-Old attacked While Playing Meanwhile, in Mallahanpurwa (a hamlet of Gram Panchayat Godhiya No. 3) in the Kaiserganj area, a wolf snatched a five-year-old boy named Star from outside his home while he was playing on Friday evening.
When villagers surrounded the area, the wolf abandoned the boy in a sugarcane field and fled, but it had already severely mauled both his arms. In critical condition, he was referred from the Community Health Centre (CHC) to the Medical College Hospital. Due to his deteriorating condition, doctors referred him to Lucknow, but the child passed away on the route.
Official Response
DFO RS Yadav stated that 28 teams from the Forest Department are currently engaged in searching for the wolf in the area. The region is also being monitored using drone cameras.

September 10: Death of four-year-old Jyoti, resident of Paragpur, ManjharaTaukli.
September 12: Death of four-year-old Sandhya, resident of Bahorwa, Bhauri.
September 20: Death of three-year-old Ankesh, resident of Gandujhala, ManjharaTaukli.
September 24: Death of two-year-old Soni, ManjharaTaukli.
September 30: Death of 70-year-old Khedan and his wife Manki, residents of PyarePurwa.
September 2: Death of two-year-old Sanvi, resident of Kandauli village.
November 13: Death of Jahnavi, resident of Naya LodhanPurwa, Godhiya No. 3, Kaiserganj.
November 28: Death of five-year-old Star, resident of Mallahanpurwa, Gram Panchayat Godhiya No. 3.
November 29: Death of 10-month-old Sunita, resident of Khoria Sharif village.
