A disturbing incident unfolded in Kanpur’s Dariyapur village when a woman bit her ex-partner while defending herself from sexual assault. Police said the accused, Champi, a 35-year-old married man, had previously been in a relationship with her. After the woman’s family arranged her marriage elsewhere, she ended the affair, but Champi continued trying to contact her.
According to the NDTV report, the incident took place on Monday when the woman was collecting clay near a village pond. According to officials, Champi followed her to the spot and attempted to assault her. When he forcibly kissed her, the woman defended herself by biting his tongue, severing a part of it.
Villagers rushed to the area after hearing his screams. His family later took him to a local health centre, from where he was referred to Kanpur’s Hallet Hospital due to the severity of the injury. Police have confirmed that a case has been filed and further action is underway.
In a separate incident, a 21-year-old woman, along with her ex-boyfriend and his friend, was arrested on Oct 27, 2025 for allegedly murdering her live-in partner, a 32-year-old UPSC aspirant, and setting his body on fire to make the crime appear like a household accident. Police said the trio carried out the plan with precision, initially misleading investigators into believing it was a case of accidental fire.
The investigation took a turn after CCTV footage revealed masked individuals entering and leaving the victim’s building shortly before the blaze broke out. Police traced the woman, Amrita Chauhan, to Moradabad and arrested her 12 days after the incident. She allegedly confessed to planning the murder with the help of her ex-boyfriend, Sumit Kashyap, and his associate, Sandeep Kumar.

Kashyap and Kumar were arrested soon after, and the accused now face charges under BNS sections for murder and related offences.
