The Uttar Pradesh government has provided significant relief to young people applying for Group C government jobs. The validity of the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET), conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), has been extended to three years.
This means candidates who take the PET once will be eligible to apply for recruitment exams for the next three years, instead of the previous one-year validity. This benefit will apply to those appearing for the PET in 2025 or later.
Kuldeep Kumar Rastogi, Special Secretary of the Personnel Department, issued a revised order dated November 20, 2020, to the UPSSSC. The commission uses a two-tier examination system for Group C recruitment.

Previously, candidates who appeared for the PET were eligible for recruitment exams for one year. The commission selects candidates from the PET merit list for the main examinations.
The UPSSSC had proposed extending the validity to three years, which has now been approved by the Personnel Department. Avnish Saxena, Secretary of the commission, stated that the advertisement for PET 2025 will be released soon. The exam could not be held last year, leaving a large number of candidates waiting. Over 25 lakh candidates participated in the PET in 2023.
