In Uttar Pradesh, the government's crackdown on illegal madrasas is gaining momentum. On Tuesday, bulldozers were used to demolish six more madrasas in Shravasti, Lakhimpur, and Bahraich, as part of a broader effort to address unregistered educational institutions operating without proper approval.
The government has taken a strong stance against madrasas built on government property, aiming to ensure they comply with legal norms. Children attending these unregistered madrasas are being transferred to nearby schools to continue their education, according to Jagran.com.
In total, 18 unrecognised madrasas were sealed, including those operating on government land. Authorities have firmly targeted madrasas built on government property, bringing the total number of illegal madrasas affected to 100. Children from these institutions are being enrolled in nearby schools.

The action against unregistered and illegal madrasas intensified on Tuesday. In Shravasti, two unapproved madrasas were demolished, and 18 madrasas were sealed. In total, 100 such madrasas have been sealed in Shravasti alone. In the Tharu-dominated area of Chandan Chowki in Lakhimpur, two illegal madrasas near the Nepal border were also sealed. These madrasas, which had 57 children enrolled, have now been instructed to send their students to nearby primary schools.
In Bahraich, two madrasas near the India-Nepal border were demolished with bulldozers on Tuesday. Investigations revealed both madrasas were operating illegally. District Minority Welfare Officer Sanjay Mishra stated that the required documents for the madrasas were requested but no legitimate paperwork was provided. As a result, the madrasas were sealed for operating without proper authorisation.
