Uttar Pradesh Crime News: The head teacher of a co-educational school has been arrested on charges of molesting 16 girl students in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao district. The children disclosed that the teacher had bribed them with candies and Chocolates to engage in inappropriate acts, reported IANS.
The appalling situation came to light when some girls lodged a complaint on the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) portal. In response, NCPCR member Preeti Bhardwaj Dalal conducted a thorough investigation at the school, recording statements from the victims, teachers, parents etc. The preliminary findings supported the charges against the accused teacher, Rajesh Kumar.
The accused teacher now faces charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and molestation charges under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The complaint was filed by the school's cook, Ruby Devi, who had informed another teacher about the alleged harassment.

The gravity of the situation led to the suspension of the accused teacher by the district's basic education officer. A dedicated three-member team, headed by a basic education officer-level official, is currently conducting a detailed investigation into the case. After which on Sunday, on the instructions of DM Apoorva Dubey, the in-charge BSA had suspended the accused head teacher. Meanwhile, the SP appointed the Kotwali SWAT team to arrest the teacher in the case.

ASP Shashishekhar Singh confirmed the arrest of the head teacher, who had been on the run since the filing of the FIR. The ASP has also said that the headmaster is yet to be interrogated. The investigation of the matter continues.
