Uttar Pradesh News: In a tragic accident that took place in Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit, six people lost their lives and four others were injured after a speeding car hit a tree and fell into a ditch and overturned. The people in the car were going to Khatima area of Uttarakhand after attending a marriage ceremony in Chandoi village of Sadar Kotwali area.

The incident took place at nearly 12 AM and the deceased have been identified as Sharif, a resident of Gotiya in Khatima, Munni wife of Nazir, Raqib, Manzoor Ahmed, Babu Uddin, a resident of Banskheda village in Amaria police station area and the car driver.

Meanwhile, the injured people include Ghulam Ahmed, a resident of Jamaur, Khatima, Raees Ahmed, Jafri wife of Babuuddin, a resident of Banskheda village, Amariya police station area and Amjadi Begum, a resident of Pota Khamaria village.

On receiving information about the accident, Superintendent of Police Avinash Pandey, CO City Deepak Chaturvedi, along with the police from Newaria, Sadar Kotwali and Sungarhi police stations reached the district hospital. Khatima resident Manzoor Ahmed's daughter Husna Bi has been married to Anwar, a resident of Chandoi village in Sadar Kotwali area. A feast was organised at Anwar's place on Thursday following the marriage. People from the bride's side had come to attend the dinner.

In another separate incident that took place in Uttar Pradesh's Mahoba, at least two men died while five others sustained injuries after a speeding car collided with a road divider on the Jhansi-Mirzapur highway in Mahoba district, police said on Thursday.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vandana Singh said, "The incident took place on Wednesday night near Sugira village under the Kulphar police station area when a speeding car lost control and hit a divider on the Jhansi-Mirzapur highway."

"Ansh Patel (20) and Manish Patel (28) died on the spot, while five others -- Pradeep Patel (21), Mukesh Patel (18), Vipin Patel (22), Yogendra (22) and Prince Patel (19) -- were rushed to the district hospital from where Vipin was referred to Jhansi for advanced care after his condition worsened," she said.

The victims were travelling from Mauranipur in Jhansi district to Kulphar in Mahoba to attend a wedding ceremony, the officer said.

Police have launched a probe after sending the bodies for post-mortem," she added.
