Uttar Pradesh News: A police constable, identified as Chand Khan alias Raj, has been booked for allegedly raping a woman of a different community and attempting to convert her religion forcefully. The constable is also accused of making a video of the act and extorting money from the woman when she refused to convert. The case has been registered under the UP Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act and other relevant sections.

According to the police, the victim, who resides in the Kotwali police station area, reported that the incident began when she was molested at a coaching center two years ago. The accused constable intervened, and the victim subsequently became friends with him. The constable, who initially identified himself as Raj, invited the woman to his residence in the police lines, as reported by PTI.

The woman alleges that Khan took her to his residence in the police lines, where he administered intoxicants and raped her while recording the incident. The accused is also alleged to have pressured her into aborting two pregnancies.

The victim later discovered the constable’s real identity as Chand Khan and learned that he was married twice. Khan reportedly began pressuring her to convert to his religion, and when she refused, he extorted money by threatening to make the video public. The constable is also said to have called a cleric on two occasions to attempt the conversion, with his wife assisting in these efforts. His wife, Gulshan Ara alias Jeva, is also accused of assisting him in the forced conversion attempts.

Following instructions from the Pilibhit superintendent of police, a case has been registered against Chand Khan and his wife under the UP Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act and other relevant sections. The Station House Officer (SHO) of Kotwali police station, Naresh Tyagi, confirmed that further investigations are ongoing.
