An Air India Express passenger allegedly tried to open the cockpit door of Bengaluru-Varanasi flight mid-air. The airline however dismissed reports of any security threat and said the passenger, a first-time flyer, was looking for the lavatory. The plane carrying a large number of passengers landed safely at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi.

"We reaffirm that robust safety and security protocols are in place and were not compromised. The matter was reported to the relevant authorities on landing and is currently under investigation," an Air India Express spokesperson was quoted by ANI.
