Bihar Election 2025: With just a few months remaining in the much-hyped Bihar assembly election, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has commenced the seat-sharing talks. The reports suggest that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal United (JDU) has proposed to have 122 out of the total 243 seats under its quota. Earlier in the 2020 assembly election, JDU had 122 seats, while the BJP had one less seat. However, the seat sharing is complicated this time, as Chirag Paswan's LJP is also part of the alliance, reportedly seeking at least 40 seats. The upcoming election will be very crucial for NDA, as the ruling alliance will try to repeat the government in the state.

Earlier on September 18, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Home Minister Amit Shah met to discuss the strategies ahead of the polls. The demands of Chirag Paswan were also raised in the key meeting; however, the chief minister reportedly asked the BJP to share its seats with the LJP. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, who was present during the conversation, assured that the seat sharing and other key discussions are in the final stage.

The LJP had contested independently in the last 2020 assembly election as Chirag Paswan pledged to remove Nitish Kumar from the chief minister post. While Chirag's campaign was aggressive against the JDU, he did not attack the saffron party and even called himself "Hanuman" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. While the LJP failed to open its account, it largely damaged Nitish's party, as the JDU could only manage to win 43 seats.

However, Chirag Paswan has again joined hands with the NDA and has pledged to support the government under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. Apart from LJP, several other parties, including Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustani Ahwam Morcha (HAM) and Upendra Kushwaha's Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), are also demanding more seats than the last time.
