The Varanasi traffic police issued a traffic advisory to ensure smooth traffic flow during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's programs at Shankara Netralaya and Sigra Stadium on Sunday. Key routes, including the ring road from Rakhauna to Sindhora underpass, will be completely closed, with several diversions in place.
Route Diversions For Sankara Nethralaya Program
From 12 pm to 6 pm, vehicles travelling towards the ring road from Rakhauna will be diverted through Rajatalab or Mohansarai. Traffic from Perambur underpass to Harhua Chauraha Ring Road will be rerouted via Jansa, Kapsethi, Bashi, Babatpur and Lohta. Vehicles heading from the city to Babatpur Airport will be redirected through Chandpur, Lohta and Jansa.
Heavy vehicles from Jaunpur will take a right at Babatpur Police Chowki Chauraha, heading to their destinations via Basni, Kapsethi, and Kachhwa underpass. The movement of vehicles near the Sindhora underpass crossing will also be restricted, with alternative routes via Kerakat Road, Jalalpur and Jaunpur.
Sigra Stadium Program Traffic Diversions
Between 3 pm and 6 pm, traffic in Varanasi will experience several diversions. Residents of the Varuna area heading to Cantt Railway Station or BHU will have to use Platform No 9 or Phulwaria overbridge. Meanwhile, vehicles from Ravindrapuri, BHU and Lanka areas to the station will take the Bhikharipur, Manduadih and Lahartara routes.
Key roads, such as Englishia Line Tiraha and Akashvani Tiraha, will also have diversions to ease congestion. Vehicles heading to Sigra Stadium from Rathyatra Square will be diverted towards Akashvani and Mahmoorganj Square.
Designated Parking Areas
Several parking areas have been designated for attendees of both programs. Visitors to Shankara Netralaya can park at Hariharpur and areas near the Sankara Nethralaya. For the Sigra Stadium event, parking will be available at Besant Theosophical School, Natraj Cinema Ground and Kashi Vidyapeeth Sports Stadium, among others. VIPs and officials will have designated parking at the Rudraksh premises and nearby Municipal Corporation locations.
