As Indo-Canada relations continue to deteriorate, a Canadian parliamentary committee is preparing to investigate new allegations of Indian interference in Canada’s internal affairs. These claims have intensified tensions between the two nations, leading to the reciprocal expulsion of diplomats and further straining diplomatic ties.

During an emergency meeting on Friday, members of the standing committee on public safety and national security agreed to launch a study on 'electoral interference and violent criminal activities' allegedly conducted by agents of the Indian government.

This decision followed recent disclosures from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, who revealed on Monday that they possess substantial information regarding criminal activities reportedly orchestrated by Indian government agents.

According to a report by Global News, NDP MP Alistair MacGregor introduced the motion to initiate the probe, which was approved after amendments were made in a committee vote. MacGregor emphasised the seriousness of the situation, noting that for the RCMP or any law enforcement agency to reveal such explosive information during an active investigation highlights the gravity of the matter.

Trudeau Accuses India Of 'Massive Mistake'

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has charged India with committing a ‘massive mistake’ that Canada cannot overlook if it is proven that Delhi was responsible for the death of a Sikh separatist leader on Canadian soil last year. Trudeau's remarks came two days after Canadian officials alleged India's involvement in homicides, extortion, and other violent actions against Indian dissidents in Canada.
