In the Kaiserganj area of Bahraich, located in the Terai region along the Nepal border, wolf attacks have been persisting since September. Due to the relentless nature of these incidents, the Forest Department was compelled to eliminate some of the wolves; however, the attacks have only intensified following this action. While the wolves previously targeted children primarily at night, they have now begun attacking people in broad daylight as well.
There is a growing suspicion that the wolves have become more aggressive after six members of their pack were killed. Within the last 100 days, the wolves have claimed 11 lives, including nine children, while more than 40 people have been injured in these attacks.
The entire region is currently gripped by panic. Thirty-two teams from the Forest Department are actively deployed in the area to prevent further incidents. However, despite these extensive efforts, the spree of attacks shows no signs of stopping
Attacks Continue Despite Culling
The first wolf attack in the Kaiserganj range occurred on September 9. After 11 people fell victim, the Forest Department killed six wolves, yet they have failed to curb the menace. Villagers are now forced to live in a constant state of fear and terror, regardless of whether it is day or night.

Experts Suspect Retaliatory Behavior
According to wildlife expert GP Singh, wolves always live in packs. If any member of the pack is harmed, the others look for an opportunity to seek revenge. Former DFO Ajit Singh also confirms this theory. He explained that wolves possess a nature similar to humans and are very protective of their pack members. It is believed that the surviving members of the pack have turned aggressive following the deaths of their companions and are launching attacks in retaliation.

Behraich DFO Ram Singh Yadav said, "Teams are continuously making efforts to capture the wolves. Each team consists of four members. We are conducting constant combing operations and raising awareness among the people. Persistent efforts are being made to completely stop the attacks."
