Approximately 2,500 farmers in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area will have to wait longer for possession of their 7 per cent residential plots.

After sustained pressure from farmers, the Authority has issued them reservation letters, but the plots themselves remain undeveloped. Despite being planned, the plots for farmers from 11 villages have not been developed. The project department is responsible for developing these plots and handing over possession.

The Yamuna Authority acquires land for its development projects with the consent of farmers. In return, farmers receive compensation and a 7 per cent residential plot. The Authority has already acquired land from 29 villages, but its pace in providing these plots has been very slow, leading to continuous demands from farmers' organisations.

Following this pressure, the Authority has issued reservation letters for residential plots to 6,260 farmers. However, they will have to wait to get possession. A significant portion of these, 2,465 plots in 11 villages, are still undeveloped, and work has not even started on most of them.

These villages include:

- Achheja Buzurg

- Mohammadpur Gujar

- Raunija

- Jaganpur Afzalpur

- Niloni Shahpur

- Bhatta

- Parsaul

- Dungarpur Rilkha

- Mirzapur

- Chandpur

- Rampur Bangar

The Authority has planned residential and industrial sectors on the land from these villages, including Sectors 18, 20, 32, and 33. While the Authority is giving possession of plots to other allottees in these sectors, farmers are also demanding that possession of their 7 per cent residential plots be given as soon as possible.

Authority officials state that after issuing the reservation letters, the planning and development of the residential plots is being carried out. Instructions have reportedly been given to the project department to develop the planned but undeveloped plots.
