Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to participate in the State Foundation Day and Silver Jubilee celebrations in Doon, leading to tight security arrangements and significant traffic disruptions.
The public is advised to leave their homes only for very essential work and to shop for necessary items at nearby stores. Unnecessary travel into the city is discouraged, as it could lead to numerous challenges.
Public Transport Limitations
Travel from one place to another will be difficult due to a limited number of public transport vehicles. Many of the city's taxis, Maxis, Tata Magics, and buses have been deployed for the Prime Minister's programme, reducing their availability on regular routes.
Traffic And Congestion
In addition to the transport shortage, the police have diverted various routes. The public should expect:
Increased VIP Movement: From Sunday morning, vehicles of public representatives and officials will be on the roads.
Crowds: A large number of people will be participating in the State Foundation Day and Silver Jubilee programme.
Delays and Jams: It may take longer than usual to reach destinations, and traffic jam conditions are expected on the diverted routes (with the exception of some).
Specific Route Diversions And Restrictions
The police have outlined several specific changes:
FRI Zero Zone: A zero zone will be in effect within a 500-metre radius of the FRI during the programme.
Route Diversions (6 am to 4 pm): Routes for vehicles traveling from Ghantaghar to Premnagar, Ballupur to Kamala Palace, St Jude's Chowk, and Premnagar to Dhulkot will be diverted.
