The path has now been cleared for new hiring for the posts of 859 sanitation workers once they retire. Additionally, the family members of these employees will also get an opportunity to receive a job on compassionate grounds. This decision was made after the sanitation workers requested it from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who has now issued a government order on the matter.
To give some background, a few years ago, these 859 sanitation workers were made permanent employees, but their posts were placed under a 'dying cadre.' This meant that once an employee retired, their job post would be eliminated forever. The workers had long been demanding that this system be abolished and that they receive the same service benefits as other permanent employees. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has now accepted these demands.
Following this decision, Bhagwat Prasad Makwana, the Vice-Chairman of the Sanitation Workers' Commission (who holds the rank of a Minister of State), met with CM Dhami at his residence. He expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for the government order, which provides these employment benefits to the families of the 859 workers.

Makwana pointed out that CM Dhami had also increased the pay for sanitation workers earlier. Furthermore, a Rs 1 lakh insurance cover, which was stopped during the previous Congress government's rule, was not only restarted by the Dhami government but was also increased to Rs 5 lakh, bringing great relief to the workers.
During the meeting, Minister of State Makwana also presented some new requests to the Chief Minister. These included making the 'Nala Gang' (drain cleaning teams) and night-shift workers permanent, starting a new recruitment drive for sanitation workers, and providing skill training to the current employees.
