A student from Bihar died and two others were seriously injured when their car crashed into a tree near Rampur Badi Masjid in the Vikasnagar area of Dehradun district early on Sunday morning. All three were students at GBIT Engineering College, Sahaspur.

According to police, the Sahaspur police station was alerted to the crash by the control room. A police team immediately reached the scene and transported the three seriously injured individuals to CHC Sahaspur in a 108 ambulance.

At the hospital, doctors declared 22-year-old Satyam Kumar, also known as Harshraj, son of Pankaj Kumar Dubey and a resident of Muzaffarpur, Bihar, dead.

The other two injured students 21-year-old Vineet, son of Sanjay Kumar Gupta from Muzaffarpur, Bihar and Saurabh Singh, son of Rakesh Singh from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh—were referred from CHC Sahaspur to a higher centre for treatment.

Police stated that all three were studying engineering at the college. An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway. An inquest report and post-mortem examination are being carried out for the deceased.
