Dehradun Traffic Alert: Police Announce Routes, Parking For Dussehra Shobha Yatra; Check Key Areas

The Dehradun police have issued a detailed traffic management plan for the Dussehra festival on October 2, particularly around the Parade Ground, where the main celebrations will take place.

Traffic diversions will begin at 12 pm and remain in effect until the end of the programme. The Shobha Yatra (procession) will start at 2 pm and is expected to reach the Parade Ground by 4 pm, passing through Kalika Mandir, Moti Bazaar, Paltan Bazaar, Rajpur Road, Ashley Hall, Kanak Chowk, and finally the Parade Ground. During this time, the area around the Parade Ground will be a no-vehicle zone.

Vikram and Magic Vehicle Routes

-No. 03 vehicles will only be allowed up to Tehsil Chowk, then diverted towards CMI, Dharampur via Doon Chowk and MKP Chowk.

-No. 05 and No. 08 vehicles will be turned back from the Railway Gate.

-No. 02 Vikrams will not operate from the Pant Road stand and will be turned back from Sahastradhara Crossing.

City Bus Diversions

-Cantt–Rajpur Road buses will operate from Orient Chowk, Rajpur Road, and will not go towards Kanak Chowk.

-Buses from Clement Town to Rajpur Road Kuthal Gate will be diverted via Darshan Lal Chowk and Ghantaghar.

-The Raipur Road–Maldevta–Sahastradhara bus service will operate from Chuna Bhatta, dropping passengers at Survey Chowk before returning.

-Barriers will be set up at Buddha Chowk, Darshanlal Chowk, Dunga House T-junction, Kanak Chowk, Rojgar T-junction, Convent T-junction, Orient Chowk, Lansdowne Chowk, Survey Chowk, Hotel Pacific T-junction, and Manoj Clinic Chowk.

Parking will be available at Rangers Ground, Mangla Devi Inter College, and Kabul House, while VIP and official vehicles can park behind the Parade Ground stage, Doon Club, and Tin Shed Smart City parking.

-From Rajpur Road: Great Value T-junction - Dilaram Chowk - Behl Chowk - Globe Chowk - Ghantaghar - Darshanlal Chowk - Rangers Ground.

-From Sahastradhara/Raipur Road: Sahastradhara Crossing - Curzon Road - Survey Chowk - Mangla Devi/Kabul House.

-From EC Road/Subhash Road: Araghar Chowk - Dwarika Store - Cross Road - Buddha Chowk - Rangers Ground.

-From Saharanpur Road: Prince Chowk - Tehsil Chowk - Doon Chowk - Buddha Chowk - Rangers Ground.

-From Chakrata Road: Bindal Chowk - Ghantaghar - Darshanlal Chowk - Rangers Ground.

Police have urged commuters to follow the diversions and plan their travel to avoid congestion.
