At least 18 people, including 11 women and 1 child, fell ill after consuming milk from a cow bitten by a rabid dog in a village in Bangan, Uttarakhand. The patients were treated at the Government Hospital in Tyuni on Thursday and administered the anti-rabies vaccine, officials said.

According to Medical Officer In-charge Dr Narendra Rana, the condition of all patients has improved following vaccination. The incident occurred three days ago when a rabid dog reportedly bit a cow in a village near Arakot, Bangan. The dog, the cow, and its calf died the following day.

Dr Rana stated, “The anti-rabies vaccine is available at the hospital. We have requested the Chief Medical Officer to send additional vaccines and medicines as required.”
