King Cobras, Ball Pythons Seized At Bengaluru Airport: Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport was left petrified after the customs authorities reportedly seized 17 king cobras, 55 ball pythons, and six capuchin monkeys. The horrifying incident took place on September 13, after a flight landed in India at 10: 30 PM from Thailand, according to the reports. The protected animals were smuggled from Thailand on board the Thai AirAsia flight, where the smuggling was busted during a security check. The reptiles and the monkeys were reportedly stuffed inside a baggage. As soon as the incident surfaced online, the netizens started to react on the matter. Most people were left petrified over the fact that the reptiles were alive and active during the entire incident, while the ill-fated monkeys lost their lives, according to the statement by the customs. Reportedly, a search is going on for the owners of the baggage, and a case has been registered.

The animals that were seized during the smuggling, were scheduled animals under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, read the customs’ statement. The smuggled animals have also been listed under appendices of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna (CITES), as per reports.

Talking to social media, people reacted to the matter and criticised the people who were involved in such crimes against the animals. “All this just for owning an exotic pet, which most likely is illegal,” a user said. “Sad that those poor monkeys lost their lives just because someone wanted to have a pet,” said a second. “This makes me sad, those poor animals don’t deserve us,” said a third. “This is just sad, humans don't deserve animals. The fact that this has become so common is disturbing, truly,” said a fourth netizen.
