Air India Crash-Themed Ganesh Pandals: Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Nagpur and Ahmedabad have stirred controversy after pandals recreated scenes from the June 12 Air India crash, leaving many people online angry and upset. Social media users called the theme insensitive, saying it mocked the memory of the passengers and crew who lost their lives. In Nagpur, a pandal was built with a 3D model of an aircraft stuck in the entry gate, representing the tragic crash in Ahmedabad, where 12 crew members and 229 out of 230 passengers were killed. Meanwhile, in Ahmedabad, another pandal went even further, recreating the crash site in detail, including burnt buildings and rescue teams rushing to the scene.
Clips of the Nagpur pandal have been widely circulated online, sparking outrage. Aviation analyst Vinamra Longani also expressed his disappointment, writing on X, “A Ganpati pandal themed around the @airindia crash is not creative. It’s deeply disrespectful to the victims, their families, and the entire aviation community.”

The post shared on various social media platforms received many views and comments from social media users. "Unnecessarily, it will bring back the memory of that fateful flight whenever they do Aarti or Darshan. It's not a good idea," a user wrote. "This is too much, bro. Who converts a sad moment like a plane crash into a festive decor?" a second user asked.
"So disrespectful. I wonder how people even get these ideas and they don't even think twice before doing such things," added a third user. "And here I was thinking making AI slop of the crash was the worst we could do to dishonor those who perished. What's worse is that there are more such mandals made; this is not the only one," wrote a fourth user.
"A matter of utter shame. Authorities in Nagpur should take strict action against this," a fifth user wrote. "How can one find peace and solace in destruction and death? Completely awful and insensitive, whoever gave the idea to do this," added a sixth user. "Creativity in India is developing and becoming stupid. People are giving more reasons to call them stupid," added another user.
