A West Bengal man’s Diwali dinner turned into a shocking ordeal and he shared his experience on LinkedIn, sparking a wave of online attention. Sumit Agarwal revealed that instead of the vegetarian dish he had carefully ordered, his family received Tandoori Chicken, a mistake that left them stunned. Agarwal had ordered Mutter Mushroom from Rang De Basanti Dhaba via Swiggy, hoping for a simple vegetarian meal to enjoy after their Diwali puja. But what arrived was Tandoori Chicken Classic. In his post, he described the incident as “emotional trauma” for his family.

“I don’t know what is wrong with Swiggy. I ordered Mutter Mushroom from Rang De Basanti Dhaba through Swiggy — a simple vegetarian meal for Diwali. But what got delivered was Tandoori Chicken Classic,” Agarwal wrote. The error was especially painful due to the family’s faith. “To a Marwari family. On Diwali. This isn’t just a delivery mistake. It’s emotional trauma,” he explained, noting that his mother, a lifelong vegetarian, was visibly shaken.

He acknowledged that mistakes happen but emphasised that some errors affect people more than others. “I understand that mistakes happen. But some mistakes hurt differently — because they cross emotional and cultural boundaries.”

Ending his post, Agarwal sent a message to the platform and restaurant: “I sincerely hope no other family goes through this. Because sometimes, what’s delivered on your plate can hurt far beyond the taste. It’s not just about food. It’s about faith and respect.” Swiggy has not responded to the viral post yet.
