Popular food delivery app Swiggy is back in the headlines, but the reason is not so good. In fact, the reason behind the spotlight is much more grave than the app apparently 'released’. A man took to social media and shared pictures of his food, a Shawarma, that he ordered from Swiggy. However, to his horror, he found a piece of metal inside his meal. Left shocked, the man immediately contacted Swiggy to complain about the horrible mistake, however, the response that he received was quite concerning. All that the app offered was Rs 50 as a refund for the mistake, which further triggered the man and the internet after his post went viral.

The post was shared on the social media platform Reddit, by Redditor ‘sterlingcrises’. The post was captioned, “This is what happened to me today, just a few minutes back. So I had ordered a Shawarma from Absolute Shawarma (Near JMJ Hospital), Nagawara, Bangalore. I had ordered it through Swiggy and once I started eating I noticed something crisp, to my surprise it was a metal piece from the flame grill used for the preparation of shawarma. I was so shocked to see the Swiggy Support Agent taking the matter so lightly. Is there any way for me to fight against this injustice legally or report it to concerned authorities who will definitely action on this?”

The post immediately went viral and left people irked. Most chastised the delivery app and recalled instances where they faced similar issues, while the rest suggested a few steps through which the man could bring the masses’ attention to the case. The post was shared two days ago and pulled 3.3K upvotes.

Taking to the comment box, people shared their take. “I had found a fingernail in my pizza once and Swiggy refunded the entire amount for the pizza. I would suggest you try raising this issue through another complaint option on the app if the present guy isn’t helping you. Try to call them and speak to someone, if possible. That’s more effective than the chat. Otherwise, the next best option is to file a consumer complaint against both Swiggy and the restaurant,” a user said. “Review it on Zomato, add it on Twitter. Shame the place and don't take it down under any circumstances,” added a second person.

“Tag Swiggy on Twitter and create noise they’ll take action, something similar happened with me once they responded within an hour,” said a next.
