Bengaluru Photographer Viral Video: Deep inside the untouched forests of Karnataka’s Brahmagiri hills, a shocking discovery has left wildlife lovers and environmentalists disturbed. A Bengaluru-based wildlife photographer, Ishan Shanavas, spotted something that no animal should ever have to encounter: plastic inside elephant dung.

Shanavas, known for capturing nature’s beauty, shared a video on Instagram showing the alarming sight. In it, he bends down near the elephant droppings and points out the plastic mixed in. "This is really disturbing. We have a pile of elephant dung, which would normally really excite me. Yet if you look closely, you can see that there is plastic within the dung. This is, oh gosh, this is such an alarming sight," he says in the video.

He explained that elephants often eat plastic by mistake while foraging near roads or areas where humans live. “It’s a clear testament to how much we have changed this planet and how these creatures are now having to deal with our eccentricities. This is really something that we should stop seeing, and this can be avoided by simply disposing of your waste properly,” Shanavas added.

In his Instagram caption, Shanavas wrote, "PLASTIC IN ELEPHANT DUNG. Finding plastic in elephant dung deep inside the Shola forests of the Brahmagiri hills in Karnataka was deeply disturbing. This is not a place where human waste should exist, yet it showed up clearly and unmistakably. It’s a reminder of how far our pollution has travelled and how wildlife is forced to deal with our wrong choices every single day."

The video has left viewers thinking hard about human carelessness and its impact on wildlife. Shanavas urges everyone to throw waste responsibly, reduce plastic use, and protect forests and animals. Taking to the comment section, one user wrote, "We are the only species that can destroy nature and the planet." "I, too, have seen many times in the Sanctuary and Reserve," a second user wrote.

"Sadly, it’s becoming our reality, our littering habits are so overpowering, even after multiple interactions, people just don’t give up. Please keep highlighting," wrote a third user. "I too have seen many times near Coimbatore… we turn this world such a horrible place to live," added another user.

His message is simple but powerful: even the remotest parts of nature are being touched by our trash, and it’s up to us to change our habits before more harm is done.
