Bengaluru Techie Viral Reddit Post: Bengaluru’s traffic is usually blamed for stress, anger, and wasted hours. But one city resident has shared a surprising take that flipped the usual story and caught everyone’s attention online. A tech professional from Bengaluru recently went viral after saying that the city’s terrible traffic actually pushed him toward a healthier life. His daily travel between Whitefield and Koramangala used to take nearly 90 minutes one way, even on a good day. Long hours on the road left him exhausted, stressed, and stuck in an unhealthy routine.

Sharing his experience on Reddit, he wrote, "Unpopular opinion: Bengaluru's traffic actually made me healthier.” He explained how his routine had fallen apart because of the commute, saying, "I used to commute from Whitefield to Koramangala. 90 minutes each way on good days. I was constantly stressed, eating at my desk, zero exercise."

Instead of continuing the same pattern, he made a simple but powerful change. He stopped forcing himself into the daily grind and shifted to a hybrid work setup, working from home for three days a week. He also started walking out to eat rather than ordering food and joined a gym close to his home, hitting workouts early at 6 am.

Over time, the changes showed real results. Talking about his transformation, he added, "The traffic didn't get better. I just stopped fighting it. Now I'm fitter than I was at 25. My resting heart rate dropped from 82 to 64. I've lost 8 kgs without trying. Anyone else accidentally got healthier by giving up on the commute?"

While many users found his journey inspiring, others argued that traffic wasn’t the real reason behind his fitness. They felt it was his lifestyle shift, not the congestion, that made the difference. "The traffic did not make you healthier. The WFH did. Now, instead of time spent commuting, you’re hitting the gym. Yet another reason why WFH should be mandatory,y especially for a city like Bangalore," a user wrote.

"I drive a manual shift. My legs and ankles are fitter than I ever had driving an automatic. Left hand is also getting stronger," a second user wrote. "I've used the bus to commute for a year. I used to change buses at two stops with 45min of total commute time one way. I used to feel healthy and relaxed. Late,r I bought a bike, and it has increased my resting rate and additionally, I have to take time and effort to exercise," wrote a third user.
