California Burrito Founder Viral Video: When you think of the founder of a big American food chain, you probably imagine him enjoying burgers or burritos, right? But Bert Mueller, the man behind California Burrito, surprised everyone by falling in love with desi food, especially the kind served in Bengaluru. A video going viral on Instagram shows Bert on a fun tour across Bengaluru. From beautiful places to popular food spots, he explored it all. But the one place that stole his heart was Kamat Bugle Rock, a well-known vegetarian restaurant serving North Karnataka meals.
In the clip, Bert is seen happily eating a big traditional thali with buttery jowar bhakri, eggplant curry, crispy salad, and more. He looked super happy and kept sipping unlimited buttermilk, which became his clear favourite. He even said, “This plate is full of fresh vegetables, crispy salads, and vibrant flavours. The butter melting over the Jowar rotti is incredible, especially when paired with the eggplant curry.
Surprisingly, this wasn’t his first time at Kamat. He shared that he had visited back in 2014 and was excited to try it again. This time, it was even more special. Talking about other food spots, he added, “There are several places across Bengaluru serving similar food, but this one hits differently. It’s the best.”

People on the internet loved the video. Many enjoyed how genuinely he praised the food, while others found his happy head-nods very “South Indian.” The clip was posted by the Instagram page 'bengaluru.servd' and has already crossed 335k views.
The post was captioned, “One long drive in our NammaYatri car later, we’re in Basavanagudi to try @bertrandmueller favourite place for Jowar Bakhri Meals – Kamat Bugle Rock. These meals are fresh, healthy and you can see how much he enjoys them with his unlimited buttermilk.” One user wrote, "He eats more like a typical South Indian, which many North Indians don’t know how to eat with one hand."
"Bert, you’re more Indian than us Indians," a second user added. "Am I delusional, or is everyone else actually seeing an American nail the pronunciation of Basavanagudi?" a third user added. "Bro brought Mexican food to India, and he’s enjoying our culture and food to the fullest," added a fourth user. "OMG! Love how you're enjoying our food! Undoubtedly, once you're hooked, it's for life! Here's to your health; happy hogging," added another user.
